Hi, this is only the second time I think I've posted on here but was wandering if anybody had any advice.

About 6 weeks I started to have trouble emptying my pouch, my stools seemed quite bulky regardless of fluid intake and diet. With this also came quite acidic stools, itchy and sore bottom.

Around the same time i caught the flu which I took clarycomythin for, as a side effect it seemed to really clear my stomach up, my stools were much better, less frequent and I was eating freely without any acidity or itching. However just days after stopping my antibiotic course the symptoms reappeared.

My gp decided to put me on Flagyl for 14 days, almost instantly my symptoms dissapeared and my stool and toilets habits were back to being really good.

Sod's law though, within days of stopping the Flagyl the old symptoms arose. Does this sound like pouchitis? I don't have the typical loose stool symptom. And also why do the symptoms almost instantly come and go once medication is started and finished? Sorry for babbling, any advice would be appreciated.

Yea I'm in VSL#3, have been since takedown, 4 a day. What scares me if it is pouchitis is the infectivness of the antibiotics and how quickly it returns. Worried I'll be on antibiotics for god knows how long. Are you a chronic pouchitis sufferer then CTBARRISTER? I have a pouch clinic in 15 days hopefully I can get a scope and find out.
