Have others had issues with female sexual dysfunction and successfully rebounded from it? If so, any words of wisdom for me?
Before having J pouch surgery over 20 years ago, I struggled with sex because it was painful, plus the challenges of incontinence. Then I had the surgery and pain/incontinence were no longer issues. My libido and ability to orgasm were not great before the surgery (pain plus fear of shitting the bed were truly mood killers for me) and I was hopeful things would be much better after the surgery. They really didn't improve much though. Then I had a hysterectomy eight years later, which certainly didn't help matters.
When I speak with MD's (internist as well as gynecologist) about it, their only recommendation is for me to see a mental healthcare provider. I'm not opposed to that and have done so, but I feel like there should be a physical medical provider that has some expertise in this.
I'm very fortunate that I have a great husband and he has been supportive through it all. Things aren't awful for me but I really believe things could be better.
