Hi there. My family doctor recently put me on the generic version of Zoloft for anxiety and OCD. I read that it had a chance of causing gastro issues and, boy, did it ever. I took my first pill last night, and I was up about 5 times throughout the night with diarrhea. Is there any alternative that you guys would suggest? Lexapro? Others? Please, and thank you!

I never took Zoloft before right now I'm on 0.5 mg of Ativan twice a day and 20mg of lexapro once a day I think their working I've been on both for a month now I never ever taken these kinda meds in my life I'm 41 the strongest pill I ever taken was Tylenol but since my takedown I developed anxiety unfortunately and lack of sleep so maybe try lexapro it does take 3-6 weeks to get into your system.. Good luck

Hi @Dear Intestines

I've just started Zoloft (started half tablet/25mg) and had a reaction within 4 hours. So, here I am, doing  a search for information. I'm going to persevere to see if I can build up a resistance to the side effect but I also took a pseudoephedrine based drug last night to stop the excessive reaction. (I found many years ago that pseudoephedrine will immediately help with reducing output...however, on the rare occasion, there can be a rebound effect)

Anyway, do you have an update on your post? Did you continue the Zoloft or did you go onto something else?

cheers

Goentropo

I take 50 MG of Zoloft and 1 MG of Ativan at night.  And man has my body become dependent on them.

If I miss my Zoloft dose, I get these weird dizzy headaches (never got these odd type of headaches until I started taking antidepressants about five years ago)

If I miss my Ativan dose, I can't fall asleep.

I don't think neither seem to affect my digestive system but they sure affect other stuff.

It gets frustrating taking these pills.  I got this surgery so I could get off the meds (Asacol, Prednisone, Remicade, etc), but now I gotta take these stupid pills (Zoloft and Ativan).

I guess you can't have your cake and it eat it too.
