I am 6 weeks post J-Pouch takedown and have been experiencing sharp jolts of pain that go across my stomach and down my groin. They last about 5 secs and can be really intense that it takes my breath away. So far codeine is the only thing that helps. What could this be and why is it happening? Everything else has been great since surgery.

Emmanz,

So sorry...no idea...it could be anything from gas to a minor blocage to adhesions building up on through...

Do you have any chills or fever? How is your output? Normal or not? Can you eat normally (a great indicator)?

Can you get a heating pad to see if it will help or a hot bath?

No matter what the pain it is usually my go to method for easing pain...

My usual reaction to unusal pain is try to ride it out if there is no fever or severe symptoms and apply heat...if things get worse I call my surgeon for advice.
