Hello awesome J-pouchers! What do you typically bring with you when you travel? I am about to head out to Brazil for 10 days on a mission trip. I would really like to bring something to combat blockages, but I'm not sure what. Thoughts?
I don't know about preventing blockages, but I absolutely recommend you bring Flagyl, Cipro, or both. My GI has no problem prescribing it for me for "just in case" when traveling outside the country, or even my health plan.
Also, bring every single OTC med you may want. You never know what is available where you are going. Plus, when you are sick the last thing you want to do is try to find a drug store.
Thank you! I'm not expecting any problems, but I believe in fighting on every level. I want to bring some grapefruit juice too, but I'm not sure if that's feasible.
Grapefruit juice will really weigh down your luggage. For food, I always like to enjoy the local specialties. I bring protein bars for when I am out and about and unable to find safe food, but that is mostly to prevent me from eating a bunch of pastries or other yummy stuff!
