I just had something quite odd happen, and don't know what to think about it. Since my pouch was disconnected in January and the stoma put in place I've had discharge about every other day anally; mostly mucus, which my surgeon had told me about. Sometimes a tiny bit of liquid, always clear. Over the past week or so the amount of liquid has increased, but not dramatically.

I just used the toilet and passed quite a bit of liquid, and it was a dark brownish-yellow; the same exact color as the contents I emptied from the ostomy bag. Um, what's up with that? What does that mean?

Probably no big deal, but it freaked me out...

No, it is well and truly disconnected, with an end stoma. After I wrote that, things went back to "normal" but today I'm having coloured discharge again, and even tiny "flecks" of what look like very small food particles maybe? How could that be?

Think I'll be calling in to get an appointment with the surgeon again; this can't be right.
