hi everyone just wanted some reassurance I guess. I am 3 and a half weeks post j pouch creation. I am currently taking a 2 week course of antibiotics due to some fluid getting infected, which collected in the pouch of Douglas after the operation. I have been experiencing  chills and feeling unwell for the past week. I am also passing white watery mucus multiple times a day at the minute which sometimes has some tinges of blood. Is this to be expected? Could the watery mucus just be a healing indication? Is the blood normal in the early weeks?

thanks

Call your doctor...Chills, fever or weakness can be signs that something may be festering in there...an abscess or a UTI or any other kind of infection...not to be neglected...they do not clear up on their own and often times take longer runs of antibiotics to get rid of.

The fluid build-up in the 'pouch of Douglas' is behind your pouch is often very hard to access (creates what they call sterile abscesses that are self contained with no where to go to drain)...also hard to diagnose and heal...

It needs attention...

Yeah i understand what Sharon means, after surgery sometimes people can develop fluid inside the pelvis which is my case (mine is posterior of the pouch, which is difficult to drain). It became infected. I took action again after the first course of antibiotics didn't kill it off completely. I am currently in hospital on IV drip of antibiotics to help clear the infection, hopefully it clears up and I can recover in time for my takedown at the start of April. If not the surgeon said I will have another CT scan and move on from there.

The stuff coming from the butt is white mucus with sometimes some tinges of blood, he says this is normal as the small intestine produces mucus and is more prominent on a de-functioned pouch.
