I have a Jpouch and I have been suffering for years with constant Anal Pain. It is literally hell living this way. I have been to so many different doctors I mean  about  ten doctors and no help. it has gotten worse over time. my life is really bad rght now and has been for sometime. I am getting no answers and am starting to loose hope of ever living a pain free life again. I see this same thing on these blogs over and over yet no doctor has ever seen this, so they say. On top of that now I have this chronic yeast infection and my poor ass is just tore up. I have had MRI CT and untrasound. One Dr. said I need to have my Pouch redone. However I dont feel that is the answer. It doesnt fit the pain Im in this isnt pouchitis. I think they dont know whats wrong and are throwing darts at the problem. I feel that there is something stuck in there and needs to be taken out. the pain starts as an itch on the left side  and just radiates throughout my butt to the point were i feel it up into whats left of my gut. I feel like these doctors are making alot of money to do nothing. I have been getting  the feeling that they dont want me coming in because they dont know what to do. Some people say the bag is better. I dont think it would cure what I have and then I would be double screwed dealing with pain and the bag. this has gotten serious. My wife was tired of seeing me in pain and we are now divorced. I cant blame her in a way. I want her to be happy and there is no happiness there really cant be. all I can think about is pain and how to stop it. no creams or medicine has ever done any good. I have used barrier creams and wipes used just water anything and everything 3 hour hot baths are some very temporary relief other than that its just so bad. Has anyone been healed of this. all i see is the problem and no one ever seems to get better from this. can you give any advice please anyone?

Hi Ferguson,

First off, I am so sorry...this is all wrong in so many ways...wrong that you are in so much pain and wrong that they have not been able to diagnosis it...

So here are my 2 cents.

1 Have they asked you exactly what Kind of pain you are in??? There is actually a classification chart that lists:

http://projects.hsl.wisc.edu/G...ment/session2.4.html

Which can help them to understand the origins...the word 'pain' means nothing to them in and of itself...they need to know what kind.

Next, have they done nerve root studies? Have they looked into spinal origins?

Is the pain in the anal sphincter? Is it in the intestinal part? Is it in the neck of the pouch?

Here is a stupid question but...have you tried hot baths with apple cider vinager for the yeast?  About 1/2 litre in a hot bath or sitz bath a couple times a day may give you relief from at least that source of misery.

What pain meds have they tried? Have they tried biofeedback?

No idea if you have tried all of these or not but the final resort is...is there a pinched nerve causing all of this hell?

Ferguson, this could, perhaps, be an anal fissure from your description. Has that been considered (or ruled out)? They can be difficult to manage, but in addition to sitz baths there are medical treatments that can help: nitroglycerine, nifedipine, and even Botox injections.

The yeast grows in continuously damp conditions. If you're putting a barrier cream over a damp area (e.g. from wet wipes) you're likely to run into trouble. In addition to whatever antifungal you're probably using, I'd suggest being very careful to keep the area dry.

Good luck!
