its been a while but I'm having trouble so thought I'd stop by. Short story, I've had 13 surgeries and have had a j-pouch for 18 years. I've had occasional accidents at night over the years but of late it is increasing. They told me incontinence could be an issue when they scraped some of my muscles in one of my surgeries...I just thought it would happen in my 70's not my 30's...
i had had an emergency surgery last summer for an obstructions and I actually asked the doctor to give me a permanent ostomy but he warned of short bowel syndrome...haven't there been plenty of people that have gone from pouch to ostomy okay?
To to give you more info: after originally thinking I had UC I have Crohns and am already on antibiotics forever to treat that...one is which is Flaygll so I don't think pouchitis is an issue.
Perhaps it's just time for the permanent ostomy?
