Hi all, it's been awhile since I've posted anything; though I still take a look at the posts from time-to-time....

Can anyone recommend a GI practice in the DC-area?  Preferably one with jpouch experience.

I have a good friend whose mother has UC and will be in town for a wedding next month.  My friend is looking for a GI practice to have 'on call' should something happen during the visit.

As for me, my surgeon has retired and I'm looking for a GI practice that is familiar with jpouches so that I can resume my periodic checkups.  No issues; it's just been awhile since I've had it scoped and I'm starting to get a little long in the proverbial tooth.  ;-)

Thanks to all & Best Wishes!

Warm Regards,

Steve

I've never encountered a GI practice willing to be available "on call," particularly for an unfamiliar patient. I would be nice if such a service existed, but most of us are stuck with EDs or Urgent care for such circumstances. Some practices will "squeeze in" established patients, of course. Good luck finding someone. I'm happy with my GI north of Baltimore, but hopefully you can find someone closer.

Yes. I highly recommend Dr. Donald Colvin of Fairfax Colorectal. He performed my J-Pouch as well as several other members of this forum. I previously had seen Dr. Lee Smith of Washington Hospital Center but he retired. I am VERY pleased with the outcome of my surgery (knock on wood).  I would be more than glad to provide additional info if you'd like. Dr. Colvin works out of Inova Fairfax, which is in the DC area.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'm not very good at doing this on my phone & haven't been around my pc recently. Lol. At this point I'm more interested in scheduling a checkup for myself; not to make it all about me or anything like that. ;-)

Deathstalker, Dr Smith is the one that did my pouch all those years ago. I stopped seeing him regularly when he moved from GW to Washington Hospital Center; too inconvenient. I'll check-out the referral.

Scott, may I ask which GI you use? I am desperately looking for a good GI near Baltimore. Thanks!
