Hello, I have had a jpiuch for 15 years.  I had my surgeries at Hershey Medical Center. For the past 20 months I have had excessive cramping, bloating, spasms and increased output from pouch. At my last checkup in, my doctor indicated that my symptoms are more related to irritable bowel and not pouchitis. I am taking Bentyl for my symptoms but am having mixed results.

This could easily be SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth). Symptoms are the same as pouchitis without the inflammation. The difference between SIBO and IBS is that antibiotics are needed for SIBO (just like pouchitis). Ask for a course of Flagyl or Cipro. You will know within a day or two if that was what you needed.
