I have a  j-pouch for 1 yr. 7 mos.  I have had 3 scopes since then due to rectal pain.  The scopes always show pouch is good and the inflammation I have is minimal.  My surgeon and GI Dr.  said the only option left as far as surgery is  ileostomy, and I have a hernia above belly that they don't want to touch.  Bottom line is sometimes with surgery and I have had 3 that it's either scar tissue or nerve endings that they can't c with scope.  So she is increasing by Amitripyline 50 mg and gave yet another diet FODMAP.  I have been on many different diets

and this one is kind of the same. Just wondering if any one else had this issue?   Thanks

Look into a pelvic floor trained physical therapist.  You may have increased tone in your pelvic floor which contributes to the rectal pain. I had rectal and abdominal pain, which both strangely resolved after dealing with my pelvic floor.  I say it's worth a good try versus going under the knife again. Get a referral by your doc...if not specialist then PCP.

For me it took about four weeks of  PT to get them to work on it, plus I got exercises to do.  Now I do the exercises -- not labor intensive.  ;-P  I really hope that helps, because I really think pelvic floor dysfunction after all the trauma our bodies go through is often just not the top of the differential because it isn't 'life threatening' if that makes sense.
