It's not Kirkland brand.  I forget what brand it is, but there is one sold by Costco.  I think Natural Wellness, not positive, but it has over 10 strains of bacteria.  But it is in a while and green box.  I hope that helps.

I think you may be referring to truenature brand, which is sold at our Costco. It is a registered trademark of Costco Wholesale Corp. It is a blue box with words, "DIGESTIVE PROBIOTIC" on the front. box has 100 capsules. (10 billion active cultures in each capsule)

Exactly... digestive probiotic... bought it last weekend and it breaks down to .16¢ a capsule (hate tablets).

This is the 2nd box I bought, so I have been using them over 3 months with no issue.

There is also a chewable one (it may have been a 'one off' where they try the product on the public to see if it sells and may not repeat it) that worked great on me for those seasons where I am not digesting anything...they were pink gummies and tasted great.

You are welcome!  My husband came home today from the hosp, and thanks to the IV fluids, was able to have a 2 day "bowel rest" which I believe really helped. I had to argue with the ER doc until I convinced her to not start Cipro until a pos fecal test came back for Cdiff or any other pathogen...so--I show up Mon morning, and what is hanging empty next to his IV bag? It was IV Cipro!!  The label even said,"do not give unless fecal test pos"!! I was furious! Then, I go again to see him this am, and he tells me he is now taking them orally. After getting his "scripts" before leaving the hosp, I notice they have been giving him Metronidazole too!!! These are incredibly strong and he proceeds to show me a horrible rash all over his back!!  The drug paperwork says to stop meds right away if rash develops. I am more than ever convinced, diet, and higher stomach acid, are going to be much safer and effective!

--forgot to add that his test was NEG for Cdiff, etc.

Still I am surprised he was on Cipro at all.  It caused one of my my c.diff infections when I still had my colon.  The other antibiotic he's on is generic Flagyl- which is how I finally got rid of my c.diff with my pouch too.  Now I can't take it for my poucitis as it makes the peripheral neuropathy in both of my feet worse. I don't mean to worry you as it saved me before but there are some bad side effects.  Please read up on them and check to see that your husband is okay.

Thanks for the well wishes I know all about them-that's why I was so mad!

Unfortunately neither of us got any sleep because he got up so many times, and is constantly clearing his throat. I finally figured out what it is though-he has low stomach acid and low enzymes(he forgot to take) so the food stays in his stomach longer because it hasn't reached 2-4Ph,(our bodies try to wait before dumping it into sm intestine) so the gases put pressure on that lower esophageal sphincter and causes reflux!! Why don't the doctor's know this????? They gave antacids when they should be doing the opposite. It sounds weird I know, but def works. Every time he uses Braggs apple cider vin, he has NO clearing of his throat! etc.

I believe that they often give antacids in these sorts of situations prophylactically, because it is common for stress ulcers to occur. Ideally, each patient is fully evaluated individually, but they usually go with standard protocol first, then adjust as they go. No real harm comes from giving antacids unnecessarily, but a bleeding ulcer is a huge setback.

I'm glad you figured it out!  We are our own best advocates and your husband is lucky to have your help.  I asked my husband to go into my last appointment with me. I'd asked if he wanted to go to them with me in the past. He never wanted to but I didn't tell him I wanted him too. I need to remember that he is not a mind reader!  He noticed a few things and asked a few questions that helped.  I am just too emotional to handle it all by myself anymore.  He said he was glad he went in with me and I really appreciated him being there.

 

My screen name here use to be Tough Enough before I changed it to TE Marie. The longer I battle my health problems the more my toughness fades.  

P.S. Did his rash go away?  If so did you two figure out what caused it?

He is much better overall--he said his urgency is all gone and he is just waiting for the pain med withdrawals to be over so he can enjoy the fact that it has gone back into remission!  He is working out today! What a difference. They gave him 15 Norco's but since his pain is gone, we are stepping him down as quickly as possible. (having been on IV Dilaudid we both agreed it made sense to not "shock" his body. It seems to be working well. His rash is healing nicely too.  It looked like chicken pox minus the pus. And only on his back-wonder why? anyone know?  

He might have had a small case of shingles.  I paid to get vaccinated against shingles as my insurance company wouldn't pay for the shot until I was 60.  Both of my parents had it and my PCP thought it was a good idea for me to get the shot sooner than later. There is pain with shingles so hopefully it was just something as innocent as he was allergic to your fabric softener or something like that.

 

I'm glad your husband is doing so well.  Was I reading the meaning right - he was taking 15 Norcos daily?  That would be loading him up with too much Tylenol.  Maybe you meant he was taking 15 MG daily.

No, it was an allergic reaction to the 2 antibiotics he received at the hosp.  We stopped them immediately and he is better. The 15 Norcos was the total number of pills in the script-not a daily dose! omg-no-today he had 2 pills---tomorrow it will be 1 pill....
