I had a pouchoscopy this week. No pouchitis but mild cuffititis. Which I have never had before. I was sent home with no medications but have a follow up appointment in a few weeks. Does cuffititis even mild need to be treated with some kind of medication???

Now for my next question. I've been experiencing, for months now, periods of abdo pain, nausea, bloating and decreased appetite. My doctor put it down to IBS symptoms but could this be actually related to the mild cuffititis???

Your symptoms could be from the cuffitis. I had similar symptoms from pouchitis and also cuffitis. Still, I'd ask for cuffitis treatment now, then you can talk about whether or not it was helpful when you follow up. Typical treatment is Canasa or hydrocortisone suppositories. When I first had cuffitis I waited years to treat it. I was dumb. I thought my symptoms were normal. Why wait two weeks If you can treat now?

I was sent home after my scope with no script just a follow up appointment. So I left thinking maybe that  mild cuffitis was not something that was treated.

I was told that I did not have pouchitis. But I'm now left thinking if my symptoms decribed above are related to the mild cuffitis rather than simply IBS. Is it possible to experience symptoms from just a mild form of cuffitis??

Yes. For both pouchitis and cuffitis, the degree of inflammation does not necessarily coincide with the degree of symptoms. You can have no symptoms with rather severe inflammation and severe symptoms with minimal inflammation.

I'd call your doctor and ask about mesalamine suppositories. Why wait for the follow up? If they work, great. If not, then you can talk about alternatives at your appointment.

Jan I'm not sure If you no the answer to my question but i.ll ask anyway. In December I had an elevated calprotectant test (sorry for the bad spelling). My gastro dr wasn't to concerned as he said it wasnt a good indication for anything in someone who had a J Pouch. But now I wonder if that positive test and my new diagnosis of Mild Cuffitis is related?.
