Sharon,  awhile ago you mentioned a probiotic that you purchased from Cosco do you remember the name?  I am now taking the VSL#3 but I noticed it is starting to bother me.  It gives me but burn I don't know why.  I don't even know if they sell that probiotic here in the US.  In fact I didn't know that they had Cosco  in the UK. I would like to see if that helps me the way it helps you.  I hope you are feeling better   Thanks  Grace

Hi Grace,

I just started taking VSL #3 as well and it makes me feel uncomfortable too.  I feel bloated for about an hour or so right after I take it.  I've been told this will get better as your body gets used to it so I'm trying to give it some time before I give up.  Sharon had mentioned in response to one of my posts that she takes the Costco chewable probiotics.  I checked last time I was there and didn't see them but maybe you can get them online?  Or maybe you're local Costco will have them.

HI Scott I didn't think of that.  I do remember when I first started to take  vsl which was a few months after surgery I would have that burning butt  so I stopped. About a year later I started to take it again  It did bother me in the beginning but I stayed with it  and it was ok. I didn't think it was the antibiotic that I was taking for bronchitis was the cause of the burning I was having.  I will have to try it again now that I am off the antibiotic.  I still take cypro and flagyl rotating every two weeks for pouchitis.  I am still having problems with bloating and gas.  I do take gasx and beano it helps a little.  I started to take lomotil in the morning again and Imodium during the day.  I do try eating every few hours during the day when I am home my bathroom issues are many trips to the bathroom.    When I am out I try not to eat because I would be stopping in every store restroom. It is usually gas along with stool. I have the control it is just a way of life that I am used to.  Thanks for letting me think that it could of been the antibiotic that I was taking plus the vsl that would give me burning butt.   Thanks  Grace
