Hi All,

Would appreciate any advice.

I have had cuffitis/pouchitis type symptoms for a while now and wanted to adjust my diet. Main advice I can see diet wise, is to reduce carbs.

Its very difficult for me to totally eliminate carbs but wanted to try reduce unhealthy carbs.

I normally eat white pasta and bread, I'm going to try cut these off but what would be classed as healthy carbs? should I try wholewheat pasta instead? also are potatoes viewed as healthy or unhealthy carbs?

There are different ideologies about carbs, and different reasons to consider avoiding certain carbs, so phrases like "healthy carbs" and "good carbs" can get you some wildly conflicting opinions. Carb reduction in general seems to help some people avoid or manage pouchitis. Reduction of specific carbs has been advocated, but the evidence for any connection to pouchitis or cuffitis is weak. Having said that, if I were trying to reduce carbs selectively, I'd try the low FODMAPS diet first. The link CT provided will get you there, along with some discussion about the choices.
