I've posted on here a few times before about my problem with passing stool while I sleep. I've tried a lot of different things but nothing has worked.
My doctor has referred me to a surgeon to see if he knows anything. They think that my leaking comes from a structure. Would anyone know if there would be any type of surgery that would help this?
Thanks

Generally a stricture, or narrowing, is dealt with by doing a dilation, whether manually or under anesthesia. Strictures don't allow for good evacuation of the pouch.

Do you strain a lot when going?  That's a definite sign of a stricture. I now deal with self dilation to stay open, but certainly have my surgeon on speed dial if things would worsen.

I would have it  checked for a stricture. Definitely.  I did.
I strain all the time but no stricture. I also leak.  Not really leak it's more of a squish things out as I move.  Hard to explain. But you may understand.   I can tell my pouch is holding but the inner sphincter... Or whatever it's called just clamps down and I cannot or have not learned to relax it.  I have to get up off the pot and walk around a bit to finish up.  But like I said no stricture.
Just too tight down there but that's something I don't want to mess with.

My son also has issues with nighttime leakage. But he has plenty of good nights too. It seemed to me the leakage is tied with what food he has eaten late in the day ( fruit, chocolate) though I cannot 100% tie it to that. I was thinking it is the food tied in with the fact that he is a deep sleeper because he can have a week of good sleeps than a night or two of leaks etc....Why would a stricture cause night time leakage? Thanks.
