Hy everyone. I'am new here. I had UC and 02. February 2015. had my first step of j pouch operation. I was doing pretty well until yesterday when I start having leaks down under. It's white,sometimes light pink(I think it's little blood) and before leaks I have feeling like I 'a going to "poop" and feel some dull pressure. Three days ago I had my first postoperative control and my doc get me anus check up with finger. Did enyone have this issues? O yes,I must tell you I am from Croatia(Europe) and our operations and post op care is different from those what I read here. Thank you in advance.

Sounds like normal activity. There is mucous shedding constantly and many people have difficulty controlling it. It is not a sign of future continence with the j-pouch. Oh, and do not be alarmed or surprised if some stool bypasses your ileostomy and makes it to your pouch.

Thank you for your reply. I spoke with my surgeon and he said everything is ok. I will have my takedown surgery sometime next month,all depends on his time or should I say,how much operations he will have sceduled. In our country there are only few docs who do this tipe of surgery,they all work at capital city and at only 3 hospitals(only 2 or 3 in every of them). They ussualy operate people with cancer ,so they(what has sense to me) take them first.And in Croatia there is registrated

I applaud you for your patience, as you wait for others with more dire need for surgery. Your day will come and I am sure it will go well for you!

Hi Jan,
I just joined this group to ask the very question that you just addressed in your last sentence. Lately I have let my ileostomy fill up more during the night instead of getting up as much to empty it. Since resorting to this action I have noticed a lot of stool going through my J Pouch. So much lately that it actually is of great concern. It was a relief to read your post, which must mean that I need not worry about the pouch getting infected or any other I'll effects from this passage of stool through it. This morning a fair amount of gas was passed "down under" as well.
Try not to be concerned about waiting a bit before you have your takedown. Because I felt so well with my ileostomy, I chose to wait a full year before I had the takedown. For me, this turned out to be wonderful because my takedown was easy and I had a very smooth adjustment to using my new "plumbing"! It sounds like you are doing very well. Best wishes!
