So after experimenting with Citrucel capsules and Metamucil capsules, Immodium, and a combination of both, I think I am only going to take the Immodium. For me, although the Citrucel and Metamucil significantly bulked up my watery stool, I still found myself going to the bathroom almost as frequently. Additionally, they added to my feeling of urgency because they caused a little bloating.

On the other hand, although the Immodium did not bulk up my stool at all, it cut my bathroom trips in half. Because I do not have an issue with incontinence, I guess I will just stick with the Immodium, as cutting down my bathroom trips is my main concern. Although it is kind of disturbing when my stool is not formed at all, if I still go as often when I take the fiber it doesn't seem worth it to take the fiber too.

I have been using the Immodium brand of loperamide, but because I take 2 capsules twice a day, it was getting annoying constantly buying boxes of 18 caplets so I just purchased the Cotsco "Kirkland Signature" brand of loperamide. You get 200 capsules for 16 bucks. If it works the same, I will definitely be going with this in the future; I really hope it does.

That's good to hear. Although they all use the same active ingredient, I sometimes feel like I feel different effects from different brands. May just be in my head, though. The thing I like about the Cotsco brand is that the capsules are loose in one big bottle, as opposed to being individually sealed in that hard to open foil like the Immodium is, which gets annoying fumbling with after a while.

IMC, in my case, I prefer the prescription Loperamide vs regular Imodium. The prescription ones come in capsule form vs the equate/generic Imodium pill like form.  I achieve better control as they get to work faster and I don't end up taking too many. It is all personal preference.  Some like Lomitol and I never felt the need to try it.  I don't think I spelled that correctly so I'll end my 2 cents.................

I remember taking Lomitol after my surgery and it working really well. I have considered asking my GI doc for an RX for Lomitol or prescription strength Imodium, but I guess I was just trying to do it with over-the-counter medication first. Although, I wonder if I should at least try the Lomitol again, in case it significantly helps and I haven't been using it this whole time.
