Two weeks post op, your doing great!  The burning is awful.  My son had burns all over his body.  We used Vaseline before going to the bathroom and afterward.  We also used diaper cream before and after.  This way, your skin is always protected.  But it is painful and I wish I could tell you when it gets better.

Sorry for your agony! been there, done that! I strongly urge you to order online a protectant paste for  that area- I found it way late, but just told my husband that without it

I would be back to an ostomy! And I dont want that!!

ILEX paste - strongly recommend you order a tub of it and a couple tubes

ilexhealthproducts.com- I carry one in my purse so I can use it if I am out. Right now you probably need to use it each trip to bathroom. After using bathroom, clean area good with generous amount of Vaseline to loosen it (it's bit tough to get off), wipe with good quality toilet paper to get Ilex off, then reapply. Use every time. You will be amazed! my reorder came this week within a couple days. Nice thing about the Ilex is that it sticks to moist tissue, so even if there's Vaseline on skin, it will stick. That's why it works so well!

Also, I ordered squirt bottles that I often use with warm /hot  water to clean and soothe area. A bidet would be nice but this is my cheap alternative.

Good luck!

I have had my j pouch for over two years. I had this problem just as you describe. It was horrible for like two months. It will go away. Your body will get used to it mostly but there are some things that can help you feel better. I almost refuse to go to the bathroom without either wipes or a bidet. I have a small hand held bidet that I installed on my home toilet and then I always bring a few flushable wipes with me. And then CALMOSEPTINE. I apply this after every time I go. I just wrap my finger in toilet paper and then put the calmoseptine on my sphincter area.

Sometimes it felt like the burning was inside. That is just something that will go away but thickening your stool will help immensely with that. You have to be careful because you don't want your stool to get too thick that you have pain or a chance for a blockage. I tried metamucil but it gave me gas. So I just take 2 immodium in the morning and two before I go to sleep. Oatmeal is also great. Find something to help thicken your stool though. That will help the burning inside go away. But be careful if your so close to your takedown. Take it slow trying to thicken your stool. don't try everything at once. Just test things out.

Let me know if I can help with anything else.
