I'm about 5 1/2 months post takedown. So a week ago I came off antibiotics to treat undiagnosed pouchitis (I was having pouchitis symptoms but didn't get scoped). I was doing fine and at some stuff I shouldn't have and it aggravated the pouch, no big deal. I ended up taking some lomotil to calm down the BM's and was taking it easy for a day or two. This is kind of my normal regiment when my pouch acts up and after a day or two my stools return to normal and so does the frequency/comfort.

However, for some reason I'm getting this intense pain/spasm in my rectum every time I stand up that's associated with needing to empty. Once I'm up and moving the pain calms down and after I empty it calms down. I don't have any pain or any type of "straining" going on when I'm actually emptying. It's the weirdest thing. This has been going on for two days now.

Tomorrow I'm going to call my surgeon and request a refill of my bentyl as I think this will probably help since it seem muscular. I'm sure she'll want to schedule a scope since that was the deal with the antibiotics (second time I've taken them and if I have any discomfort again she said she wanted to look).

Has anyone experienced anything like this? For some reason I feel as though it'll just go away on its own in a few days and it's just some weird spasming (which is why I want the bentyl). What do you think?

I was in from 2004 to 2010 in the Marine Corps. I did four deployments and on my 4th tour in Afghanistan I started having bloody stool. I had a flex sig done on base and they said if it didn't clear they'd send me to Germany, affectively putting me on med-hold when I'm only 8 months from my EAS. So I just touched it out.

Luckily I went into remission when I got out but a few months later I flared again and was later diagnosed from the VA with Ulcerative Colitis. Luckily I had the scoping done in afghan so they were able to service connect it and that covered my surgeries and prescriptions. However, here we are over 4 years later and I'm going through an appeal on my claim after 3 improper decisions on my claim. It's a living nightmare and even at 28, I feel like I'll be dead long before the VA gets their shit together. This is a whole other discussion and I'll gladly talk to you about it. But to answer your question, no, because of the timing of my disease and the difficulty in diagnosing (more so the time period) I was already out of the Marines before I was diagnosed and didn't get retirement (unfortunately). Currently I'm at 60% disability.

Sorry to hear the troubles your going through with the VA if you need more help the vfw and others have people that will help fight for you as well if you haven't talked to them already and they could possibly get your status changed to retired as well its worth a shot I am also at 60% right with a few 0% as well I wasn't to happy about getting retired as I wanted to stay in but with our great leader and cut backs they are MEBing whoever they can good luck with dealing with the VA. I'm slowly finding out about the one in syracuse ny  so far I'm only the second person my Dr has delt with in 25yrs with this whole thing she said I have some kind of infection but doesn't want to put me on any antibiotics yet unless I feel it's getting worse. I'm being told it's one of the better ones with a G.I clinic besides Houston if  you ever want to contact me personally it's my name on here at Hotmail. Com
