After almost 14 years with UC (likely) will be undergoing colectomy. I am still trying to pre-adjust and now is a new situation arising:
My surgery is in mid February. In the last few days i have been having some tooth ache. This is after 4-5 years after NOT having ANY teeth problems, despite prednisone twice in this period.
So now i have a date to take out the pesky colon and suddenly also tooth ache. A bit dull on wednesday, i went to the dentist on thursday he takes xray and says it looks like filling is a bit old, maybe root canal will be needed but he cant say now. I meet CR surgeon on friday he said NOT to do any dental work.
However, the gum under the tooth hurts and i am a quite stressed. I never neglect tooth ache and always go to the dentist when pain starts. I am not sure i can wait a month at least until i am more than two weeks post surgery.
has anyone been in that situation?
this morning after talking to dentist on phone, i spoke to a friend who is a general surgeon and he said he cant think of any reason why CR surgeon said i cant do dental work.
Any insight will be most appreciated
