So next week, after a year of trying to figure my pain/output problem, I'm getting my pouch "advanced". I don't know how it's going to go. I have a r/v fistula that's on the suture site from the first time they created my j-pouch.
Apparently my first surgeon left too much rectal tissue behind and I am lucky enough to have a j pouch AND active ulcerative colitis. So they're re doing the whole dang surgery.
Anyone else had to have their pouches redone? My doc says 7 hour surgery followed by 7-10 day hospital stay. Does that sound a bit excessive?
I guess I'll take anything at this point to fix this fistula. It's terrible. I don't know how people can live long term with these things. Thoughts?
(Thank goodness for this forum. I'm glad to know there are others out there who "get" it. Hard to complain about my bum all the time without seeming like a bum-maniac)
