So I went for my second dilation under anesthesia on the 18th which lucky for me fell right on my birthday. I couldn't have thought of a better birthday present. Anyway the second time around was a little different than the first. The second time around there was a massive amount of blood coming out while using the bathroom. I knew I was going to be sore for about 5 days because that comes with the territory. After all the initial aches and pains this time around I don't feel as sore as I was last time and I'm only a couple days out. I feel like since there was more blood this time around that the surgeon did alot better job this time breaking up the scar tissue. This time I feel great so far. I used to have such a hard time emptying and could never get everything out the way I wished which caused me multiple trips to the bathroom to keep trying to get it all out. I had to push most if the time with no satisfaction and always seemed to have a pocket of gas which was extremely hard to get rid of. Since I had all this waste and gas sitting in there it caused extreme pain, pressure, and was uncomfortable all day long. I'm hoping things stay the way they have been for the last couple days because I don't have that urgency to go all the time and hardly get anything out when I do. I know I might have to continue getting this procedure depending on what the scar tissue decides it wants to do but this is the best I've felt in a really long time.
This should help. You may need additional dilations to keep the anastomosis opened. I have had about five and my last one three months ago has been the best. I do still struggle at times with complete emptying which causes a few trips in succession but I guess it's just something you get used to. If there is no anal pain associated with that I can live with it. Good news for you.
