I am a 28yr old female I was diagnosed with UC in 2003 by 2004 I had my child and was told I had to get a jpouch. Being young having a jpouch was not my ideal of fun. Soon after my last surgery I started working and my depression started.eventually I started smoking marijuana and I noticed it calmed my depression. I have been smoking now for8 yrs and I noticed whenever I stop smoking I get depressed and my stomach starts to hurt. I don't take pain pills so I use the marijuana as my pain medicine and it also helps me with my appetite and it helps me sleep through the night apposed to getting up 30 times to use the restroom. My family makes me feel as if I'm using my illness as a reason to smoke. My question is.... does anybody else go through these symptoms if so, does smoking marijuana help? What else do you take for these symptoms if you don't smoke?

When i get up to use the bathroom which is about 4-5 times a night right..(a month and a half after takedown) i tend to smoke a little bit, just enough to help put me back to sleep but i have also found it help with very loose stools as well, i think/want to say that it helps with the feeling of pressure on my behind as well but i lay down right after and soon fast asleep. It definitely helps i would say.

I used to smoke weed recreationally when I was younger but when I got older it had opposite effects on me. I know my mother in law has had stomach problems for a long time and that is her medicine so she is distracted by the pain and gave her an appetite and obviously put her in a good mood. I had a friend that smoke every minute of the day and I knew when he didn't have weed because I didn't like him then ha ha I would tell him to go smoke weed so I could like him again. It is tough after surgery especially having to get it at a young age.

I am 30 years old with a wife and 3 kids and I've been supporting this family for 10 years and now my wife is scrambling to find work because my disability only covers 60% pay right now so I have the feeling of anxiety, depression, and worthlessness. Unfortunately pain pills and anxiety pills I take are gonna come to an end but I will cross those roads when I get there. I would suggest you take the route that I recently did and set up an appointment with a therapist to work some things out. Not saying its the cure but might be helpful to get you back on track without poisoning your body with weed smoke. Good Luck and welcome to the nervous, confused, and frustrated club. It does get better though. I'm 10 weeks post take down and I realized its a matter of diet and mind control. Hang in there you aren't alone.
