Hi All,

I've been meeting with several surgeons in my area to find the best fit for me. Just met with a surgeon that said he extracts the colon through the anus (not through the stomach). Has anyone heard of this before, and better yet, gone through it?

This is the first time i've heard of this. I know there are several ways of doing this surgery (hand assisted, single port, multi port, robotic, etc.), but they always seem to extract the colon through the stomach.

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, of course, they would need to have laproscopic to release the colon from the mesentery, which attaches it to the posterior of the abdominal wall. Then, if your colon is in good enough shape, I suppose it could be brought out through the rectum/anus.

They are always trying new ideas.

Let us know how it all comes out! Wink
