This could be situational, but I'm not sure.
Have had my pouch for two decades, and have had minimal issues.
Recently had that seton placed on 3/27, and that is all going pretty smoothly, but what has happened to me is after this procedure, I'm having trouble evacuating everything from my pouch. Things just are "thicker" and causing me to do the potty dance (lean left, lean right, etc.)
I've even resorted to enemas occasionally.
I've always been someone who could pretty much eat anything I wanted (over the years I've eaten mushrooms, corn, popcorn, you name it), but recently, higher fiber foods are also becoming a bit bothersome.
I thought that the reason I was having thicker stools was a triple threat: I had a scopolomine patch for nausea the day of surgery (driiiees you OUT; was removed same day, though), of course there were pain meds (last was taken on 3/30, so it's been awhile for that), and I did have another 7 day run of Cipro (sloooows me down, last taken on 4/3... but I did a full month of it recently without issue).
Since then, things haven't really changed much, and I'm still having some issues with thicker stools, more bothered by fiber, and my go to foods for thinning haven't worked much (lettuce... usually makes things fly out of me; draught beer (had two... didn't do anything); the only thing that DID make things move was greasy Long John Silver's fish and a giant Sierra Mist, lol, but that also makes me kind of nauseous too!)
The longer I live with this pouch, the more cranky she's becoming!
Anyone finding that stuff like this is happening to them? I've had something like this happen to me once or twice in the past, for short periods, and found one time that things were "tight" back there (not fully strictured, but a little narrow), and once it got stretched out, things got better. I would think that I'd be as open as ever, having had a seton placed and being dilated longer than normal (took him awhile to find the inner site of the fistula), and the multitudes of finger probing I've suffered lately... and I was also scoped in surgery, too. So a stricture *seems* unlikely, though I guess you never know. I do see my CRS at the end of April, though, so if things are still a problem, I can ask him, I guess.
But anyone with this or these issues? I do know I have to stay away from antihistamines or my stool gets too thick... and I'm not on any, but I'm sensitive to that. I've upped my water intake like a boss... but that doesn't seem to be working much, either. Have done the prune thing... grape juice... don't want to take commercial laxatives, because all they do to me is make me crampy, but it doesn't improve the "getting it out" part.
*sigh* Hoping it's just some sort of Cipro post sluggishness that wears off soon, but I'm just not sure.
