I am writing to see if anyone out there has had the same experience that I had. In taking the tons of prednisone I needed to take, I awoke with the most intense pain in my knees one night in the hospital. I had to take pain meds to relieve the pain. Turns out, the prednisone had interrupted the blood flow to my knee, and therefore, oxygen to the knee was decreased and I have a small piece of dead bone in my left knee. I treat it with cortisone injections and I wear a brace designed to transfer the weight when I walk to the left side of the leg so as to decrease the pain on the right side where I have the issue. My future will hold a total knee replacement in 5-10 yrs. I am no longer able to run or even talk long walks. Is there anyone else out there who has had this happen?

Lab sorry that happened to your knee.

Luckily, I was not on prednisone to have bone problems, but my brother was not so lucky (U C also). He had one hip replaced last year. We went hiking in North Georgia on Saturday, and he had to stop early, as his other hip was hurting. He limped the rest of the afternoon.

If it comes down to pain or a replacement, don't wait too long.
