Hello everyone! Wanted to give a brief summery of my story for all who are interested:
• Diagnosed with "mild" UC when I was 12 (14 years ago)
• Was up and down, on and off medication (prednisone and sulfa-drug) but mostly tried to control symptoms with strict diet & supplements
• May 2011 begin having constant diarrhea coupled with excruciating pain-went to the hospital and was diagnosed with c-diff
• When the c-diff didn't clear up, and I kept landing back in the hospital, and was barely 80 lbs because I couldn't eat or drink anything, they did a colonoscopy which showed extreme inflammation-they prepped me for Remicade infusions
• The next day, I had a perforation which landed me in emergency surgery where they removed my colon
• I lived with an ileostomy for the next 11 months while my jpouch was constructed and took time to heal
• I had my reversal in May of 2012 and have been living a totally normal life since then, free of my UC!
I am on this forum to offer support and advice, I am very passionate about walking down this road with others because I have been there and know first hand what a difficult road it is. Please email me with any questions! tiffgoad@gmail.com
