I think I definitely have pouchitis again. My diet has been horrible recently...lots of fatty, greasy foods. Also, since I've turned 21 I've been drinking (very little, but my body isn't used to it). I've had urgency to use the bathrOom quite a bit more and I have a little blood in my stool. I also have a pain on my left side, which I think is gas/possibly a partial blockage. I'm also pretty lethargic...does anybody else get like that which pouchitis? I don't know if it's from that or related to what an urgent care doctor thinks is allergies. I've also had a lot of joint pain, especially in my left knee and ankle. I took a really nasty spill(shopping cart flipped in the parking lot, I face planted...), I bruised ny knee then, don't know if it's from that or part of the whole illness thing.
I called my GI to make an appointment to see him (wanted to talk to him before my trip in July anyway). First available appointment isn't until July 3! That's a month away and a week before I leave! The office is sending a script for blood work, so that's a start. The receptionist said to call daily, or every other day to see if there are any cancelations. Guess I will become the receptionists new best friend! I'm scared that I won't be able to get in to see him until my appointment. I don't want to suffer/get worse in that time.
I could probably ask for a prescription for cipro/flagyl, but I was on them for two rounds last summer for pouchitis and it did nothing but make me even sicker. Budesonide steroid is what helped last time. Hoping he can give me a short round of that (not that I want to be on steroids) to get my body back on track. I'm continuing with my probiotic...can't hurt.
Is there anything else I can do in the mean time to stop this pouchitis from getting worse?
