I was looking for info about collagen treatment for fistulae, and came across these cheery articles. Apparently I could be doomed, as I'm the same age and time frame as the female population in this article. I haven't talked to my surgeon yet, but asked my hematologist(who's also an oncologist) if there was a way to test for these and basically she said no, because all of the blood and imaging tests for cancer show inflammation, and that's what's happening with a longstanding fistula (at least mine). If anyone hears of a study or trial in detection of cancer in fistulae, let me know, I'll volunteer.
