So I had my first surgery on may 25 and am now almost 5 weeks out. I haven't had any major issues with my illeostomy but I have been in and out of the hospital because I always thought I had a block or something. I was throwing up and not eating with abdominal pain and my stomach was distended but it turned out my stoma was just sewn a little too tight. The doctors gave me a catheter to dialate the stoma a few times a day so it didn't get too tight which was a real pain. That was a week ago and I was having the same symptoms again last night and I talked to my doctor this morning and now I'm having my surgery tomorrow, a week and a day earlier then planned. I'm actually pretty excited for this surgery and was just wondering kinda what to expect. I've heard people talk about ointments and medicines and I just want to be prepared with what to eat and any advice would be helpful!!
Also want to thank everyone who has posted on this website as ive learned so much!!
