I am 3 months pregnant following IVF and I feel like I am showing way too much way too soon. Is this more common when you have had pelvic surgery? When you have had a colectomy? I know that my abdominal muscles are all messed up - they have always been week and devoid of sensation. Could that cause things to "fall forward" sooner?

Not a particularly important question. Mostly just curious. Thanks!

I think is has more to do with how tight your abdominal muscles are. I worked out a lot before getting pregnant and I didn't show at all until 19 weeks. And even then I just looked fatter but not pregnant - I don't think I looked obviously pregnant until 25 weeks. Not having a colon meant that my baby and uterus sat farther back in my pelvis because there was more room, and my OB sent me for a growth ultrasound later on because my belly measured and felt smaller than other women.

Is it possible that your body is still clearing out the medications from your IVF cycle? I have heard that those cause major bloating and water retention... perhaps that is part of what it going on.

My experience was actually more like Kate1026, where I looked smaller than most women and showed later. Without my colon, there was just more room in my abdominal cavity so the baby sat back further. Typically women show much earlier and look bigger with their second or third babies so if this is not your first, that's pretty normal.
