Well, not really but its an issue I have!
I cant pass gas sitting up. Ever since my j-pouch surgery 11 years ago, I haven't been able to do it. I always have to be laying down, or sitting on the toilet for a little bit.

This is fine at home. Go to our bedroom and let er rip. However, when I'm away from home, this is a problem, and causes me quite a bit of pain. At work, I have my own office, but its nearly never empty. I always have people in my office, and I cannot kick them out, not even worth suggesting, I cannot. And I get performance anxiety in our office bathroom, as it is so busy, there's virtually no time to be alone, unless you camp out for a half hour waiting.

At friend's houses, I have the same issue. Cant just go to someones room and toot on their bed. I have on occasion laid down in their bathroom and relieved it, but again, not convenient.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Please don't tell me I'm the only one with this problem!

Tracy this problem isn't "stupid" as much as it's annoying. I understand what you're going through. About the only time I've been able to pass gas while standing on 2 legs has been by accident, such as when I'm really active. In those rare cases the gas is released without me even trying to pass gas. Otherwise, the best you can do is try to keep away from foods that produce gas. I understand how that's like walking thru a minefield too when you have a J Pouch. I'm sorry if you've heard that a million times before. I've tried all the anti gas pills I could get my hands on too, including charcoal. I'd like to try Beano again since I've seen some people here say good things about it. Otherwise just trying to eat the right foods is one of your best bets. Believe it or not but even when I starve myself, I still have to put up with gas problems too though.
