ilex paste is by far the best and no other product can compete or compare when protecting and repairing the skin around a loop ileostomy or any other type of Stoma.

Since takedown, I'm using ilex to prevent " butt burn " which seem such a difficult affair.

The ilex also appears to seal my butt shut, so much so, that once applied and dry I have to strain, pull my cheeks apart, at the start of emptying my pouch ?

I also find it's really gloopy and difficult to remove, leaving a sticky l residue stuck all around my back passage, which interferes with applying additional application after each evacuation...... what am I doing wrong ?

Thanks for the prompt reply and link to ilex instructions Jan.

After a BM, I'm not intentionally attempting to remove the ilex, it just comes off all by its self, creating a gloppy mess which gives the feeling as if the area is not sufficiently clean prior to reapplying.

I'm currently using toilet tissue to remove the wet remnants of BM followed by the use of a surgical type wet wipes provided by the hospital and it's during the cleansing process I can feel and see the ilex being removed.

I will try the petroleum Jelly and although that will prevent my bottom from sticking together, I don't think it'll prevent the ilex from being any less gloppy or sticky during or after the cleansing Process.

Update...Update...Update.....

It must be the surgical wet wipes causing my problem.

Think ilex application instruction say don't use wet wipes.

I Just used a damp cotton type wipe to cleanse and then pat dry with cotton wipe, in n out within minutes and could feel the ilex barrier remains intact without the need to reapply.

I actually have a similar question about ilex. Is it supposed to harden up?  Reading, it seems it does - kinds like my old Cavillon barrier wipes did around my stoma. But the ilex seems to stay goopy - like Vaseline.  And I get he same little balls when wiping. I thought I had a defective tube (ordered from random place on amazon), so I have a new tube coming from Edgark tomorrow. But maybe it's not defective and I'm just doing something wrong?  For that matter, could I use my old Cavillon wipes for butt burn prevention?
