At my wits end. Have been getting these horrendous sharp pains that I would call gas pains and are endless. They double me over and I get them usually starting in the early afternoon and continue on while I'm asleep at night, waking me. I get some relief after emptying my pouch but only for a short time. I have noticed that the smell is horrendous as well and wonder if that's the sign of a bacterial overgrowth.
Since I have been under a tremendous amount of stress lately and think I have IPS, I have tried Amitriptyline which didn't appear to help, and now I'm back on Librax (generic) and still nothing. I don't know what to do or what to take to stop this endless bout of whatever it is. A few weeks ago I thought I had pouchitis and went on Cipro for two weeks. The pains stopped and I felt more or less like myself again. I don't want to stay on an antibiotic for the rest of my life and I don't want to keep getting yeast infections or c-diff. What do I do? This is getting to be ridiculous let alone a real pain in the you know what. I realize that this problem is nothing like some of the other problems on the site, but there has to be an answer to it and I don't know what else to do.
I have plans to go to a support group tonight for my loss, and I'm afraid to eat because I don't want to have my stomach growling so everyone can hear, nor do I want to be doubled up in pain. Any suggestions?
