Hello all,

So after finally seeing some relief from my 6+ week battle with pouchitis I am getting around to addressing the AWESOME upper abdominal pain I have been experiencing for over a month now. My GI treated with prilosec thinking gastritis however the pain never went away and I am beginning to feel more and more like garbage. I had blood work done and can view it but have to wait for the doctor to read it and contact me and since I am impatient I am hoping someone might be able to shed some light of the lows and highs of it all. BTW - no gallbladder.

LIPASE SERUM high - 82 NORMAL 0-50
AMYLASE high - 118 NORMAL 28-100
BUN low - 6 NORMAL 7-25 (admittedly not that low)

They of course seem to have forgotten to do my iron AGAIN - I am always battling this and my B12. Any thoughts? She mentioned pancreatitis, anyone have advice. Thanks all!

Gallstones can be a cause of pancreatitis, as stones can block the common duct. But if you had a stone in a duct, you'd be way sicker than you are, and your labs would be much higher. More likely inflamed ducts from chronic gallbladder "sludge." The MRI should sort this out.

Glad you are finally on the right path to finding the source of your problems. Chronic pancreatitis is more insidious, so more tricky to nail down.
