My first scope was one year after takedown. My surgeon said to come annually for a one. I went for one on my two year anniversary but I haven't been back since. (It's been four years since my takdedown) I intend to go soon but since I don't have any issues I've kind of put it on the back burner. It seems all surgeons have different opinions about how often to get a routine scope.

I have it done annually due to chronic pouchitis in the pouch and dysplasia in the colon when it was removed. One or the other being present in your history should dictate a regular annual or biannual schedule. However, if no pouchitis is present and you did not have dysplasia at the time of colectomy, it does not need to be done once every one or 2 years.
