Just escaped another 'near miss'. was partially blocked for two days, thank the gods it just cleared! Yay!

This is happening with greater frequency lately. I am 19 years out from a one step and have been hospitalized three times in the last 3 years for obstruction. Also have gotten several partials which I was able to clear at home.

Any ideas/suggestions on why this started happening after 16 years with no problems? Any suggestions on prevention other than the dreaded low residue diet? I think this time it was apple picking that did it, I ate three apples in two days. Sometimes I 'forget' that I can't just do what I want. Frowner Smiler

I'm 13 years out from my 2 step and I have had infrequent blockages that have pestered me over the years. I think mine come sometimes from not what I eat, because I'm usually careful about that, but from eating too much. I think when I eat too much my system can't handle the volume coming through so I get blocked. But, yes, eating the wrong things and and not chewing well can contribute greatly. My Dr. also said that we can become blocked for no reason, other than our intestine twists or turns the the wrong way, resulting in a blockage. I am able to clear most of my blockages at home, but have gone to the E.R. a few times. It sucks. I hope you get it figured out
