Hello everyone. I don't usually post on this site as I just had my takedown and I've gotten so comfortable with the group on healingwell. But alas, I wanted to broaden the reach of my questions specifically to fellow pouchers.

So overall I'm doing fairly well I think. I eat very bland, mostly scrambled eggs, bananas, mashed potatoes, peanut butter and noodles. That seems to keep things as mild as I can imagine they could possibly be at this point. Usually I'm going 4-8 times during the day and usually 1-3 times at night. The most active time is between 2pm and 10pm at night. Normally following lunch and dinner. I take 2 pills of Metamucil twice daily, 2 immodiums 4x daily and I have lomotil as a parachute if I eat something that really doesn't agree with me.

For the most part I've accepted the trials that come along with this part. Butt burn is a nightmare and I try different creams and it cools down then flares again but I know it to be expected. For the most part I feel alert and okay, I do get fatigued easily still but it's all good.

One thing that's concerning though is when I do go to the bathroom. I really feel as though I have rectal inflammation like when I had UC. I mean I have plenty of control and I can even fart without pooping. But, when I do poop, after the initial wave it feels like my body wants to push and it's painful. I can't really tell if it's internal burn or tenesmus like symptoms. Either way I really don't like it and it's draining. It also takes me several minutes to get everything out and I do need to push a bit. The pushing concerns me as well since I'm so early post op.

I go back to the VA tomorrow but it's mostly to check up on my wound, which is fine and closed up. I then need to make a follow up with my surgeon. Does anyone know what this is? Could I possibly have inflammation already? Could I need to be dialated again this early? Or is this part of the normal healing process? Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

I was out and about in a week or two (except for my trips to the ER for complications). I just made sure to go places with public restrooms. Those first 3 months or so can be trying, as things are not very consistent in regard to what works and what doesn't. I just think that the whole system is very sensitive at first and responds to things we are not even aware of.

Thanks for the replies all. Yea I think I agree with you on the eggs, however they also don't increase my frequency which is a positive and is a good source of calories and protein which I still need. I will probavly cut back on them though.

I didn't mean to sound as though I cannot leave my house for fear of pooping but I have a wedding to go to on Saturday evening and I don't know if I'll be able to. It's a long drive then it's usually around the time of day in mommy active so I just don't feel comfortable going. We'll see. Today was a pretty good day.

Thank you for reassuring me that the intense pain and pushing I feel from time to time is normal I was terrified it might be inflammation already. My surgeon doesn't seem concerned either.
