Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all well.

Whilst on holiday I developed a searing pain in my left buttock where I could no longer sit down. The doctors identified it as an abscess and proceeded to drain it and give me antibiotics.

Since then the incision has constantly been draining and I've switched antibiotics 3 times. I have also recently moved location and have a new doctor. They have referred me to the local colorectal clinic to meet a new surgeon in 10 weeks time. I am so anxious that I have may have a fistula after reading another thread on this forum.

Essentially what happens is the wound heals over periodically and then it bursts and the process begins all over again. It is extremely painful to sit or apply pressure when the wound is blocked.

My j-pouch is working fine currently though, with no discharge or anything.

Does this sound like a fistula to you? I've got 10 weeks to wait so please put my mind at rest!

Thanks,
I

Seton for 1.5 years.

EUA 9/15 inconclusive again... Waiting to hear from GI. CRS just wants to leave seton in, and dilate all the time. GI wants to find a reason why it's all happening 23 years after surgery. Difference b/w a surgical and medical doctor... I'm a critical care nurse, and see this all the time: surgeons DO handy things (seton, dilations), but don't want to delve further. Medical docs prescribe TREATMENTS, which mine has been contemplating Humira (though the CRS's blasé report is frustrating for moving forward).

I'm irritated.

have you thought about returning to an ileostomy, rachel. Just wondering because I am a newbie and already thinking about that if I am not happy with my pouch. I know premature, but I liked the bag. weird I guess, maybe if I had it longer I would have got sick of it, but I felt free, slept through the night, was in and out of the bathroom quick.
