I recently asked on site about essential oils. There was only one response about the company that you mentioned and they don't deal with those type companies. I am glad I researched more by googling and found your post on J pouch site. Have you used their probiotic? Seems it would work better how they have made the capsule to get through acid in stomach then benefit the small intestines. Have you used any for pain? Have you used anything else except oregano oil? My pouchitis has seem to not occur as often but I have had cuffitis since diagnosed several years ago. I am not so keen about taking them internally. I have used the lemon in glass of water. tried on guard in small amount of water but stopped it.
Are any of you still using the oregano oil in capsules? How much and how often. Do you mix with a carrier oil?
@Gentle Now posted:Hi!
this thread inspire me to try oregano... And OUCHIE! whats hot going in is hot going out, but I forgot that because of the pill form. How do y'all not get the major burn upon exit?
If it is pure oregano oil you need to mix it in another oil carrier eg almond oil to dilute it.
Can someone please post a link for the exact oregano oil product they are taking?
This is a very cheep ebook around 1-2 dollars. If you like this you should look up her other podcasts, books ,blog etc.
PS I have no affiliation with her but just want everyone to be as healthy as they can be
Thanks. Any chance you could post the link to the actual oregano oil product you're using?
If you read the ebook.it will give you all the information you need to find a brand. They are definately not all equal. I no longer have the bottle so I cant remember which brand I bought. I diluted my pure oregano oil with another oil.
Hi All,
I have been doing oregano oil with elemental diet for 6 weeks now and for some really strange reason, my Calprotectin levels have gone UP to 500!
I am following Jini Patel and using Natren probiotics, bone broth, elemental shakes and WOO for 6 weeks now for chronic pouchitis - my night time incontinence has stopped and my iron levels have stabilized. I am still eating 1 meal per day which consists of protein, fats and small amounts of carbs.
Has the Calpro levels gone up due to the body detoxing? I am currently on 12 drops per day (6 drops twice per day).
Interestingly, I started with oregano oil, I don’t take it regularly. I don’t notice any improvement, I have diarrhea and 3 stools at night. Should the number of drops of oregano oil be increased for the result? I'm a little scared to take it, I hope it doesn't hurt.
Jini Patel Thompson: Just YouTube the name she has several videos and books on Wild Oregeno Oil and UC and Crohns. I follow her and she is great. Also, Dane Johnson is great and a nutritional life coach. Little pricey but worth it.
I use the oregano oil as well. It really does help.
I am just reading afew posts on oregano oil drops and wondering how everyone is going on the oregano oil? Still beneficial?

I like to use oregano oil capsules when I have a situation where I'll be exposed to unfamiliar germy kids for my job. It keeps me from getting sick! I use it up to 10 days, but not longer because it thins the blood too much. I make sure to combine it with probiotics because oregano oil is kinda like antibiotics and could mess with the microbiome, though I also think that my microbiome is just kinda off all the time due to the lack of colon and all the other imbalances that causes.
I also use oregano oil topically if there is an irritation that might become an infection, such as on a tooth, in the ear, or on a pimple. It works pretty well, though I prefer drawing salve for the pimples.

I would recommend talking with the Crohns and Coltius foundation with Dane Johnson. Its a little hard to start on your own. You have to goreally slow. Like one drop a day and build up to 10 drops 2x a day. Good luck
I would strongly that anyone that is having trouble with their symptoms is to look into this company. I usw them and they are great!

They deal with j-pouches?
Yes, they work with people with J-pouches. I have a J-Pouch and worked with them for the last 6-months. Awesome, results.

Awesome! Can you share the issues they have helped with and what caused you to need a j-pouch? This is only relevant because I think there might be commonalities with specific conditions (pre-pouch) that might make certain treatments work better on one group of individuals vs. another. I wonder if we are in the same group! I have the j-pouch because of colon cancer which was caused by UC.
Do you use it daily and long term?. There seems to be conflicting information on oregano oil.

Fatigue, many bowel movements, abdominal pain, etc. You can set up a free consultation to feel them out.

@clouseau posted:I have been reluctant to post anything since I wanted to wait to see if I had a relapse but I have not. I have had chronic pouchitis for 2.5 years and on antibiotics. Initially 2 cipro and 2 flagil a day, then 2 cipro a day, then after Rebecca's SCD diet down to 1 cipro a day for the last 4-5 months or so. Everytime I would try to get off to do stool testing for instance where you need to be off antibiotics for 5 days, I couldn't make it more than 3 days last month without major repercussions. I had been taking 3 drops a day of oregano oil for several months but saw now effect but knew that it was good for me. 3 weeks ago I started 12 drops, 4 drops 3X a day of doterra oregano oil (there are others that I'm sure are just as good I will mention criteria below) and I never had to go back on the antibiotics. I was SO excited. I had 3 protocols from different functional medicine people across the country that called for oregano oil for GI bacteria and diarrhea as part of their program and just decided to up my dose. It's the only thing that I am doing differently. Although I may add some of the other items they mentioned in the protocols down the road. The oregano oil must be concentrated and you must take in a veggie capsule(it's too strong otherwise) It must be the correct species, oregano vulgare and subspecies (hirtum is a good one) and it must be high in NATURALLY occurring carvacrol(not added in manufacturing). Must be low in thymol(less than 5%)Joy of the Mountains is another brand that meets the criteria, I'm sure there are others also. You need to build up gradually however taking 3 drops an day initially then slowly increasing so you reduce die off. My protocol says to take for 3 months but I have a feeling I could be on it much longer, I will keep you posted. Like antibiotics, with long term use it can be harmful for the good bacteria but I believe it is much better and safer than the antibiotics but I don't know how much so. If anyone has a functional medicine doctor who is very knowledgeable on this I would love to hear. Rebe had been very good about getting me to think about my long term plan which I will start to do but I was just so surprised and excited to be off antibiotics I hadn't gotten that far. Someone else who is rarely on this site recommended the oil to me also who had pouchitis and she has been off antibiotics at least 6 months I believe.
Do you put the oregano oil drops alone in the capsule and take it? Or do you put something in the capsule with the oregano oil?
I am about to start my trial with oregano oil. I bought the little brown 15ml bottle of doTerra off Amazon. I cannot take the cipro anymore. It’s destroying my tendons, and as soon as I stop, my pouchitis flares up again really bad.
I have taken Giam Oil of Oregano capsules for minor infections and it seems to clear them up. I have taken as many as 2 a day before. I don't take it long term because of its blood-thinning effects. The ingredients are vague: Oregano Leaf Supercritical CO2 extract 230mg, Carvacol & Thymol 32mg. I don't know if it adheres to the above qualifications because there is so little information, but I do know it has helped clear up minor infections. I have also found that oregano oil is great for topical applications like skin, tooth, and ear infections. Manuka honey is also great for those things, but it's so sticky!
