Did anyone use a special seat cushion post rectum removal? I've read various posts discouraging the use of a donut cushion as it spreads the buttocks apart and pulls on the incision. I'm trying to look up a beanbag cushion online and not getting anywhere. My surgery is scheduled for October so I have time, just figured I'd start early. Thanks!

Glad you are asking this question. I would like to know for my October surgery, too. How is it going? I am pretty calm most of the time about it, but sometimes I will wake up first thing in the morning, and think OH NO surgery.
I received a cushion for when they did my mucosectomy, this cushion is by far the best cushion i have ever dealt with, i had a small foam one i bought for my house that did not do anything, resorted to sitting on a pillow for awhile and this cushion they gave me blew everything out of the water, i love it, i bring it to work with me and will be purchasing another one from amazon since i succesfully found them, you sit with the individual columns facing up, its a godsend. my legs dont fall asleep from time to time anymore, my butt bones arent sore anymore (i have no fat...i lost alot of weight during these surgeries) and the fact that i work in IT and sit for long periods...oh yeah..this cushion rocks. called a Geomatt seat cushion. disregard the one guy who review it, hes mad because it wouldnt fit in his wheel chair...mine fits in both my computer desk chair here at work and at home perfectly.

I borrowed one of those bean bag pillows from a friend. I used it a few times. The recommendation I got was not to sit at 90 degrees for a while to help keep the pressure off. Honestly, the pain killers did me in, so I was sleeping or lounging a lot in the beginning. I sat in the recliner a lot also. Then the pain went away and I sat in all my normal chairs without any issues.
DGtracy, thanks so much for the link to your cushion.I hope you're doing well with your temp ileo. Holly, I am in the same boat as you. I forget about the surgery, even have good days (but don't want to get tricked because it's always only temporary!) and will occasionally wake up in a dead sweat thinking about it. I made a list of reasons why I'm having the surgery. It's pretty long and good to look at when I get nervous. LHetti, I have two recliners I sleep in when I have a headache or I'm gassy and lying down makes both worse. I'll probably use it after surgery because it's also easier to get up from the recliner than my bed when sore.
I was talking to someone today about my surgery. I am a little anxious, but then I will have a day like today with diarrhea and leakage and I know it is the right decision. 6 weeks from today.
I bought one of those airplane neck pillows that look like a horseshoe and are filled with beads...it has a snappy thing at the collar that attaches the 2 ends together (I guess to attach it to your carry on)...well hubby has those dreaded hemaroids and I gave it to him...worked wonders. I wouldn't reccomend it for longterm use but it is great for spot relief and is small and portable (keeps it in the car for long drives too).
When I had my barbie butt done I don't remember much other than the dreaded hemovac that sounded like a vacume cleaner up my bu-t...I believe that mild icing helped me along with laying on my side a lot.
No tight pants or jeans either...just sweat pants, leggings and pyjama pants.

I have a couple of those pillows. I use them for travel and keep one in the car all the time. I may just try one of those first. Been hitting sales for pj's, sweat pants, and leggings.
Holly, how are you doing? I hope you're healing just fine!
I used a pillow. I worried about my butt hurting but for me it's been relatively pain free.
ISUJed, for how long did your butt hurt? I'm going on week three post op and still need an occasional Percocet because there's so much pressure and discomfort down there.
