Hey guys, soon il be going in for my reversal the last op of the 3. Before getting really ill I was going to the gym every day and I was at a very good weight. Since having the second operation the creation of the j pouch I have found It really hard to put on any kind of weight as I currently have a loop ileostomy. I just want some advice and tips on how to gain weight and will it be easier to gain weight after the reversal with the j pouch functioning compared to with the loop. I was very serious about being in good shape, if there are any jpouchers out there that
Have gained good amount of weight and go to the gym and exercise regularly please give me some advice I would really appreciate it.

Thanks guys

I couldn't gain weight at all with the loop ileo -- in fact I lost about 15 lb. About three months after my reversal it was like a lightswitch went off, I think I gained almost 10 lb in a month. It's really hard to gain weight with the loop ileo, you just aren't absorbing a lot of the calories from the food you eat. It will almost certainly turn around after reversal (but not necessarily immediately after).

I ate like a 300 pound truck driver with my loop ileo and I lost weight! I was starving all the time. I could not keep weight on. But that quickly changed after takedown. Now a days I have to watch what I eat and work out regularly or I will gain all too easily. Don't worry, you will put the weight back on naturally but probably not until after your takedown surgery.
