Hi does anyone know how to make your bowel movements be more liquid. My small bowel does too good a job of absorbing water. I did not realise how easy it was to pass liguid stool until I had a noro virus after the day or so of the really bad stuff it took my insides about three days to settle down it was so easy to go to the bathroom. I take 12mg of pred every other day and have for the last two years can not get lower or the inlet near closes over from inflamation. Biopsies show ideopathic IBD one area showed a granuloma my Dr's say it is Crohns will no doubt need the pouch removed at some point have tried all the other drugs. Any how back to the point have tried really increasing my fluid intake but end up just needing to void more. Thanks for any reponse. Shawne

I'm thinking if you do what people do when they have partial or full obstructions it might help. Drink white grape, prune or similar juices. I'd try a soft and liquid diet with protein drink meal replacements and so forth. You can juice and add the juice to something like PlantFuison protein powder or something similar. I don't like ensure like products but many do. I don't like coffee or tea but I've heard a lot of folks suggest drinking those too. I hope things work better for you and hate it that you have to take prednisone and have the crohns diagnosis. It would be nice if they could just do laproscopic surgery and clear out the area in your pouch that is problematic. (Spoken from someone that has no idea what she is talking about.)

I have this problem with my pouch too. If things get too thick I find it very difficult/uncomfortable to empty my pouch.
I drink a lot of water throughout the day now, I find that if I drink small amounts at a time then I don't have to pee as often as if I drink an entire glass of water at once. I have a water bottle with me at all times and just drink drink drink.
When my pouch was new I would sometimes drink a bit of warm prune juice to empty things out. Green tea works for me as well.
On days that I don't drink enough water or if I get dehydrated (like on a long plane ride), I start to feel almost constipated and find it very hard to empty.

I drink lots of plain hot water. I have a good jolt of coffee in the morning and then no more caffeine. I just try to keep drinking all day. Sometimes it helps me to drink a full glass of water before I get out of bed. I know what you mean about wanting to keep things moving. I don't worry about frequency of trips to the bathroom very much but I do worry when it's hard to empty or I even have the feeling of being blocked up. That is so uncomfortable and my belly swells like I swallowed a cantaloupe.
