I don't know why this suddenly occurred to me, but any of you who have had a pouch advancement, please advise!
The surgeon tells me that it could be that, after the cuff is removed (or the portion damaged by the fistula) and pouch is pulled down or "advanced", I may have a small portion (of pouch? of rectum?) hanging out of my anus for about two weeks before they can trim it and do the final stitching. If all goes well, everything will be done in one surgery and this won't happen but if not, I'll have to have this trimming and final stitching done 2-3 weeks after the advancement surgery.
(He did explain why this might be the case but, honestly, I don't remember...)
Here's my question: Will I even be able to sit and/or walk if this happens, or will I be stuck in bed that whole time? And how badly will this hurt?
Just suddenly thought of this yesterday and -- yikes!
