Hi all

Ive had my pouch for almost 2 years and on the whole its been very well behaved, very glad I opted for elective surgery as after 20 years of UC Ive finally got my life back....

However ive had a few issues for the last week or so, Im starting to have alot of abdominal bloating and struggling to empty my pouch unless the contents are very liquid, anything more solid only exits if its assisted by wind which pretty much blasts it out. Also Ive noticed that when my output is more solid it feels like it scrapes through the very last bit of the rectal cuff/ anal canal before it exits my pouch which is starting to feel a bit swollen....Ive no bleeding, increased frequency or incontinence I just feel pretty bloated (and probably look like Im expecting twins !).

I wondered whether it may be a stricture but wasnt sure about the sore rectal cuff bit...

Just wondered whether there is anyone out there whos had a stricture and whether my story sounds familiar to them ..

Many thanks !

MM

I had a dilation under anesthesia.

He used a large proctoscope to open up the anal canal stricture/stenosis. Had to have a few of them to keep things open. Seem to be doing ok with it, nearly a year later, without another dilation.

Some docs will do finger dilations in the office, but my surgeon won't. Says it's too uncomfortable for BOTH of us. lol
