I just got test results back and my B12 was 1156 - normal range up to 946. I've heard of a lot of us jpouchers as being low in B12. But high? Is this common? Is this something I should worry about? Thanks.
I would not worry about it too much if this was you only abnormal test and everything checks out fine. Percentage-wise, you are not that far out of range.
But, if you did not have a full screening panel done, it might be a good idea. High B12 levels can be associated with some blood diseases or liver disease. It could also be just a problem with the sample. So, a repeat B12 is in order at the least, and liver enzymes, CBC, etc, if not already done.
I had lots of blood work done. My ALT and AST were normal. I have had high levels once before, about a year ago but it went down. The only thing that stuck out was a high platelet count, but that is usually the case since I have ITP and had my spleen removed.
