hi allycat sorry to hear but we are never protected unfortunately.. i just want to say we will always have to be vigilante..although i am off antibiotics because of elimination diet and do not have severe painful, burning ,broken glass symptoms i had for bacteria overgrowth i still am discovering or realizing i can have issues plenty if i eat the wrong thing or too much of something that is on diet..i too over did it last week but eatting my almond read i make..problem was i ate too much of it..had me up going for two nights straight...turns out although almons are okay food they are in limited amount because its like too much fiber for my intestine..i recovered but this is second time i did this ..so don`t be too hard on yourself its tough doing what we have to do..just like me get back on the horse figure you learn something hopefully and realize we have to always watch what we eat..we cannot fool our intestines..

i suggest you might try again to eliminate the starchy carbs and too much sugar ..its never too late to go at it again..today i resolved to also accept i am going to go more often and be up at night more if i eat salads for example..or too many veggies without more protein..

if my suggestions helped you some before it will again and maybe go at it with even more determination

by the way ,butter lettuce is easier digestible just hard to find if you eat out!i freeze red grapes and peeled bananas as treats or if i need to grab something because i cannot have chips etc..

we are not going to be perfect but we could be better!!!

hang in there lady..you got rid of it before you will again..

one way or other diet of eliminating simple carbs and starches will or should help because you are not added to the inflamation caused by the pouchitis..between your drugs and diet you should get it under control soon..

have you been diagnosed with pouchitis through scope by the way? in my case as i said it was not pouchitis but bacteria overgrowth..

please try to stay the course with diet if you can if you think getting off the wagon brought it on again..its only way to know if it will help your situation..

meanwhile wishing you a quick recovery ..

Yes, I'm better! But I'm still on the antibiotics along with the diet. No endocort this time to get out of the flare up so that is good. Doing diet. Talking with dr tomorrow about next step and FT
Yes, pouchitis confirmed via scope but told because of location near the top only that it is cause by bacteria hang up. Apparently this is very common findings.
