I can't believe I've asking for your help twice in one month when I haven't been on here for two years or more prior to that.

All day Monday I could tell things weren't going well in the gut and by 9 p.m. the vomiting started and pain worse than I've ever had with a blockage. I've had over a dozen blockages since surgery in 2003 ( a couple per year) and this is the longest I've went without one (over 2 1/2 years). Always to the ER and sometimes needing to be admitted like this time. So I was in the hospital for about 24 hours. I'm advised to stick to a babyfood type diet for a few days.

I've never had pain like this after a blockage. I'll admit it was my worst blockage but the pain is ridiculous. BMs are going fine. I have a LOT OF GAS. I don't understand that. And bloating - guess that goes with the gas.

Is this just a soreness? It does seem like it hurts more after I eat my baby food stuff. Not eating much at all.

And the gut is tender to touch.

Looking forward to your opinions and suggestions.

Seems pretty typical to me. Your gut has been very traumatized. The more severe the obstruction, the more severe the trauma is. The intestines get inflamed and swell with an obstruction, and it takes some time after the obstruction clears for the swelling to go down.

Imagine a little ninja inside, kicking and punching his way through, leaving you battered and bruised inside. Just like getting a beating you can see, this takes some time to get better.

The gas is because things were standing still in places that are meant to keep moving. Bacteria act on undigested stuff, making gas, lots of it! So gas and bloating come with the territory. This will resolve over the next few days too. You may want to keep the carb intake as low as you can to reduce any new gas formation.

Take it slow, but be sure to keep your fluid intake up, even if you don't feel like it.
